Reader's Theatre

About Reader's Theatre

Reader's Theatre is a cornerstone ministry of Discovery Church. For experienced and first-time actors alike, this program is a perfect way to enjoy the thrill of theatre while making friends and blessing our neighborhood. Our goal is to make acting as assessable as possible, even allowing actors to read from their scripts during performances. Our scripts, tech, props, and performers are all made possible through volunteers who believe in the fun and empathic experience of live theater. Our past shows have included performances such as, "Napoleon Dynamite," "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and a modern adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Like all events at Discovery, all shows are free to the public!

"The Brothers Opossum" is filled to the brim with silliness, and seriousness. At its core, "The Brothers Opossum" is a story about two brothers dealing with the tragedies of life, and leaning about what's truly important. Fans of the zany and the philosophical will love this show!

Rehearsals for "The Brothers Opossum" Begin October 8th at 6 PM. The full rehearsal schedule is posted on our "cast and crew resources" page. "The Brothers Opossum" is a full scale musical, but non-singing parts are available to those that wish to participate but don't feel comfortable singing.

This is our first musical at Discovery so we've lengthened the rehearsal process. Once a week rehearsals start in October, with the show being performed in May of 2025. We'll be pausing rehearsals for December, taking the enter month off. We do our best to work with any conflicts!
